Let’s be honest here – family movie night is such a thing in 2021! It may feel like you’ve already finished all of Netflix, but don’t worry, the kids have nothing against watching Frozen for the umpteenth time. So if you’re not gonna focus on the movie itself, you can at least focus on the snacks. After all, movie night without the snacks is just a regular evening at home.
And while a plain bowl of popcorn does count as a snack, we dare you to take it to the next level. After all, everyone deserves a treat every now and then. To keep it kid friendly, but also New Year’s resolutions friendly, we went with a vegan board that mixes and matches. Think savory and sweet, crunchy and soft, raw and baked.
You know we’re big fans of grazing boards. After all, they can even make leftovers look fancy. But how about this: a whole book to inspire and elevate your entertaining skills! I’m talking about Kate Kasbee’s Vegan Boards: 50 Gorgeous Plant-Based Snack, Meal, and Dessert Boards for All Occasions. What a find! If you thought artfully arranged boards mean deli meats and fancy cheese, this book is here to change your mind.
All the boards in this book are vegan, and just flipping through it makes you feel like you’ve reached Pinterest heaven. I don’t know about you, but I’m all about a Post-Workout Lunch Board or Mini Bundt Cakes Board. Cooking just got 90% easier!
Family Movie Night Vegan Board
Author Kate Kasbee says: ‘Let the kids choose a movie while you prep this Family Movie Night Vegan Board. Popcorn, the quintessential movie snack, gets a savory upgrade with dill and nutritional yeast, while sliced apple and vegan chocolate hazelnut spread will satisfy everyone’s sweet tooth. Don’t skip the Crispy Spiced Chickpeas—they’re crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside and a perfect texture contrast to the crunchy snacks across the board. Baby carrots and grapes add a fresh element to this movie night spread and offer an extra serving of fruits and veggies for the day.’
Doesn’t that sound just perfect for this weekend? Scroll down to get the full recipe and consider buying Vegan Boards for even more ways to fancy up your everyday.
