Dark Chocolate Cherry Granola Bites

A cross between granola and cookies, these little bites are totally addictive.

  • 1 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried cherries
  • 1/2 cup chopped dark chocolate or mini dark chocolate chips


  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the oats, flour, baking powder, cinnamon and sugar.
  3. In a large bowl, use a hand mixer to cream the butter and sugars. Add the egg and vanilla and beat  until incorporated.
  4. Add the oat mixture and to the butter mixture and stir until just combined. Fold in the cherries and dark chocolate.
  5. Drop heaping teaspoons of batter onto 2 ungreased baking sheets about 1 inch apart. Bake for about 15 minutes or until the cookies are golden and lightly browning at the edges.
  6. Let the granola bites rest on the baking sheets for 2 minutes, then finish cooling on wire racks.

Recipe Notes

These cookies will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.
